Hosted by: Nourishing Counselling Services
How do you typically respond to hard times, such as work stress, financial struggle, rejection or relationship problems? Do you find yourself often blaming others or finding fault in yourself? Do you deal with uncomfortable emotions by drinking too much, withdrawing from loved ones or filling your schedule to the brim? Are you exhausted, worn out and irritable?
What if I told you that the key to peace is already inside you – by using self-compassion on yourself? Self-compassion is a learned skill that teaches you how to sooth yourself with kindness when you make a mistake or experience difficult emotions. Evidence shows that using self-compassion as a daily practice can:
- Alleviate symptoms of depression and anxiety
- Improve relationships
- Boost happiness
- Help you stick to goals, like diet and exercise or in your career
Join Jordan Thomas of Nourish Counselling Services for a free, 90 minute, introductory workshop to cultivating self-compassion. In this workshop, you will learn what self-compassion is, why it trumps self-esteem and how to use some core skills.
Jordan has worked as a clinician in mental health and addiction for 13 years. While utilizing many therapeutic frameworks, mindful self-compassion was instrumental in her recovery from postpartum depression. Having healed from that experience, she hopes to teach anyone going through challenging times how to use self-compassion techniques.
